Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang insists that should a time come when he leaves Borussia Dortmund he will not force through a transfer.
Aubameyang, 27, was linked with a move away from the Bundesliga side this summer but opted to stay put for one more season at least.
However, Aubameyang in the past has said that he wants to play for Real Madrid one day, and it remains likely that he will one day leave the Westfalenstadion.
“Those who know me, know that I am an open and honest guy, and it will always stay like that,” he told Sport Bild. “Should there be talks about a transfer one day, things will run smoothly, I promise that.”
Dortmund lost the services of Ilkay Gundogan, Mats Hummels and Henrikh Mkhitaryan this summer.
And Mkhitaryan’s departure to Manchester United in particular took many at the club by surprise, with Dortmund’s Marcel Schmelzer saying at the time: “I was surprised that ‘Micki’ decided to make the move after all. Many players after the season talked to him about his plans. In the end, all you can do is to accept the decision.”
But Aubameyang says he would choose to do things differently.
“In the end, all involved have to be pleased with it, and you still have to be able to look each other in the eye.
“It’s about how you do it. And a few things were done in public recently which were not okay, and which you are not necessarily able to relate to as a colleague.”
Aubameyang was linked with a £65m move to Manchester City this summer, and he referenced Gonzalo Higuain’s €90m move from Napoli to Juventus when talking about his own value in the transfer market.
“I don’t know how much I am worth,” he said. “Maybe you’ll see it one day. I fear that it could also go in the direction of Higuain.”
