Nollywood actress Lilian Afegbai has opened up about how her friends in the industry kept casting her as an extra. She recently revealed that her own buddies continued to give her small roles despite knowing that she is a professional actor.
Speaking during an interview, Lilian shared that her friends went as far as referring to her as an extra, not an actress, and it made her Nollywood experience very challenging at the time.

According to her, if it were just her playing a cameo in a few movies, it would have been fine, but her close friends who were producers got very comfortable with having her feature as an extra.
“People that I know, friends in the production industry, casting me as an extra and not an actor.
It’s different when you play a cameo in the film, but when it becomes a norm that your friends casting for a big production forget that you are an actor and when you remind them, they say you should come and play extra. They were comfortable with me playing extra,” she said.
On her role in “To Kill A Monkey,” Afegbai noted that playing Idia in the movie was a beautiful journey.
Stressing that she played a very strong character, the moviestar stated that she gave everything to deliver the vulnerability the role deserved.
Lilian concluded by appreciating Nollywood fans for the positive feedback since the project was released.
“Playing Idia was more than just a role. It was a journey of becoming one with a character whose strength, vulnerability and spirit I poured my soul into. I gave everything to bring her to life, and seeing your kind words, messages, and encouragement means the world to me and makes it all worth it,” she added.
