NAPERVILLE, IL–(Marketwired – Jun 10, 2014) – Napersoft, a leading provider of Customer Communications Management (CCM) software, announced support of Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) Summary Documents for patient portals. Medical records summary document access through patient portals enables patients to securely view the same records their doctors use via a mobile phone or browser. Its self-service online functions can help enable patients to improve their own health, reduce the cost of servicing patients and achieve Meaningful Use.
Stage 2 of Meaningful Use is off to a slow start. According to the Health IT Policy Committee, as of May 6, 2014, only 4 eligible hospitals and 50 physicians and other eligible professionals in the U.S have attested to Stage 2 of Meaningful Use. For many providers, Meaningful Use is difficult to achieve because of cost, lack of knowledge, and workflow challenges. With Napersoft CCM, patients can View, Download, and Transmit their EMR summary documents through patient portals, fulfilling multiple objectives of Meaningful Use.
For example, a patient is undergoing surgery at a specialist. A couple of nights before surgery, the patient would like to send their EMR summary document from their primary care provider to the surgeon. The patient logs into their provider’s secure, self-service patient portal. Utilizing Napersoft CCM with the provider’s patient portal, the patient is able to view, download, and electronically transmit their EMR summary document to the surgeon, without requiring help from their provider. The surgeon receives the patient’s EMR, which contains the patient’s medical history, such as vital signs, medical history, diagnoses, medications, immunization dates, and lab and test results. As a result, the surgeon has a more complete view of the patient’s health before surgery.
