The former governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has stated that he is not interested in becoming a godfather to any governor in the state.
El-Rufai made this known during a Capacity-Enhancement Workshop for Senior Government Officials in Borno State on Monday.
He emphasized his hands-off approach to Kaduna’s governance since leaving office, noting that he has only visited the state five times in nearly a year.

“I don’t want to be a godfather, and that’s why I don’t interfere in what is happening in Kaduna. I want him (the governor) to learn and get the job done by himself,” El-Rufai stated.
He emphasized the importance of good leadership and the need for leaders to surround themselves with competent individuals to achieve success.
El-Rufai highlighted the critical role of civil servants in the effective functioning of government, noting that no country can surpass the quality of its civil service.
