RSG has stated that the forthcoming Native and Vogue fashion show is geared towards creating jobs for young people in the State. Commissioner of Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari said this recently while briefing journalists on the forth coming 2014 Edition of Native and Vogue fashion show in Port Harcourt. Mrs. Semenitari said that Native and Vogue was conceived by Governor Amaechi to create opportunity for young people who are in the creative industry and to make Port Harcourt a place to live, work and do business.
According to her, “Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi while conceiving the idea of native and vogue thought it wise to create job opportunities for young people who are in the creative industry”.
She urged young people in the State to take advantage of the opportunities either in modeling or designing to better their lives and thanked the organizers for the success of last year’s Native and Vogue fashion show.
Also speaking Mrs Nkiru Oguadiama of Neo Mantra, partners of Native and Vogue disclosed that, this year’s fashion show would be working with 80 top designers coming from the United Kingdom, and Nigeria, models from U.S.A. and South Africa for the run way.
She said that entries would be opened from Monday 21st July to 4th of August 2014, and the fashion show would commence on the 19th and end on 21st September, 2014.
She advised interested young Designers who live, work or do business in the State to send in their entries or profile to designers at native and vogue.com and for models to send in profiles through wwwnativeandvogue.com advising them also to take advantage of the opportunity to be given a platform to start.
Earlier, Frank Osodi, a renowned designer in Nigeria urged models and designers who reside in Port Harcourt and are tax payers to be part of the event as this year’s event according to him would be bigger and better.
While Uche Doris Adaugo and Gedoni Ekpata the winners of 2013 faces of native and vogue disclosed that their reign has been wonderful and exciting as the opportunity given them has created more openings of jobs for them assuring that they would continue in their modeling carreer after they handover to the new winners of faces of 2014 Native and Vogue.
In his vote of thanks, Director Public Enlightenment of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Mr. Paulinus Nsirim thanked Governor Amaechi for believing in Native and Vogue and giving all the necessary support to ensure that Rivers people are given this opportunity to excel and to make Rivers State a destination of choice.
Mr. Nsirim also thanked Mrs. Ibim Semenitari for her contributions in bringing a change to the State and the Ministry and partners of the Native and Vogue project for making the State Rivers its choice of the project.
