The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has assured its members and supporters that all its candidates will participate in the 2027 general elections despite the recent court ruling affecting the party’s registration.
The National Secretary of the party, Ikenna Enekweizu, gave the assurance on Friday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, while addressing the party’s ongoing registration dispute.

His comments followed Friday’s ruling by a Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, which set aside its earlier judgment directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the NDC as a political party.
Enekweizu expressed confidence that the party would overcome the legal challenge and participate fully in the elections.
“All our candidates will be on the ballot come 2027, and we will win the elections. We still have six months before next year.
“Let me tell you something. There’s a funny thing about this matter. We were scheduled to pick up our codes to start uploading our candidates today. We were supposed to be at INEC today to pick up the codes, and then in the middle of the day, the ruling came.
“I think it was designed and timed to stop us from picking up those codes, but I can assure you that we’ll pick them up. We’ll upload our candidates and we’ll participate in the elections,” he said.
The NDC scribe urged party members and supporters not to panic, insisting that the legal development would not prevent the party from contesting the elections.
“Our candidates and supporters have nothing to fear. We’ll win the elections because Nigerians are fed up with what is going on in this country today. We are fed up with the hunger, the insecurity, the failures of government and the heartlessness of the government that is ruining this country,” Enekweizu added.
