The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed concerns over the health of its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, insisting that he is in good health but needs adequate rest following an exhausting schedule of political engagements.
The party’s Deputy Campaign Spokesperson, Dr. Sam Omale, gave the clarification during an interview on Channels Television, where he attributed Obi’s reported exhaustion to frequent travels and the demands of his political activities.

Omale explained that the former Anambra State governor often moves between different locations within short periods while attending several engagements, leaving him with little time to rest.
He said Obi’s commitment to his political activities was responsible for his demanding routine, noting that the candidate frequently handles multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
“Sometimes I wonder where he gets his energy from. He is in London today and the following morning in Enugu. I’m wondering how he does it. Exhaustion comes in; he is a human being,” Omale said.
He, however, maintained that Obi was not suffering from any known medical condition, stressing that his condition was simply the result of physical exhaustion.
Omale added that members of the candidate’s team had been encouraging him to slow down and get enough sleep to recover from his hectic schedule.
“He is in perfect health. There’s nothing wrong with him. It’s just exhaustion, and we are trying to calm him down to take a sleep. He is fine,” he stated.
The NDC campaign spokesperson further assured that the fatigue would not disrupt the party’s ongoing political activities.
He said Obi remained committed to the party’s engagements, including town hall meetings scheduled to continue before the commencement of major campaign rallies.
The clarification comes amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 general election, with Obi expected to play a central role in the NDC’s presidential campaign.
