The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano State has arrested 21 suspects and seized various illicit drugs during a coordinated operation across the state.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, said the raids were conducted on April 11, 2026, under the leadership of the State Commander, D. Y. Lawal.
According to the statement, operatives targeted major drug hotspots, including Filin Idi, Hotoro, Mariri, Fagge, and Farm Centre along Zaria Road.

Items recovered during the operation include cannabis, pregabalin, codeine-based cough syrup, and rubber solution used as an inhalant. The agency also seized locally made weapons from suspects.
“Suspects who attempted to attack officers with locally made weapons were tactically disarmed and taken into custody. Investigations are ongoing to identify principal drug dealers and build cases for prosecution,” the statement said.
Speaking on the development, Lawal attributed the success of the operation to support from the Kano State Government, particularly the donation of operational vehicles.
“The timely donation of vehicles has enabled our command to extend coverage and respond swiftly to intelligence. We will continue to deploy these assets for sustained operations to rid our communities of illicit drugs,” he said.
The NDLEA reiterated its commitment to tackling drug-related crimes and safeguarding youths in the state.
It also urged residents to support ongoing efforts by providing useful information and cooperating with law enforcement agencies.
