After being confirmed by the State House of Assembly, new Commissioners in Abia State have been sworn in by Governor Alex Otti.
The Governor administered the oath of office in the Umuahia Government House Banquet Hall.
Speaking at the ceremony, Otti urged the newly elected commissioners to realise the goals of his government and create a better Abia State.

He urged them to make the most of their positions to make their mark in history by aiding in the reconstruction of Abia’s essential infrastructure.
Here are the new Commissioners and the areas they will be responsible for:
Agriculture Professor Monica Ironkwe Planning and Budgeting by Kingsley Anosike Philomena Asonye Ogbonna, Environment and Urban Renewal, Professor Eme Uche, Education Ministers of Health Ngozi Okoronkwo, Information and Culture Okey Kanu, and Lands and Housing Chika Chukwumerije
Commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs Uzo Nwachukwu, Professor Joel Ogbonna for petroleum and mineral resources, Commissioner for science and technology Chima Emmanuel Oriaku, and Commissioner for sports and youth development Nwaobilor Ananaba were also sworn in.
Trade, Commerce, and Industry Secretary Dr. Chimezie Isaac Ukaegbu Commissioner for Public Works Don Otutmchere Oti Transportation’s Sunny Owunna Women’s Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Minister Ngozi Blessing Felix, Attorney General and Justice Commissioner Ikechuckwu Uwanna,
Commissioner for Digital Economy/SME Matthew Chikodi Ekwuribe; Deputy Commissioner for Finance Mike Akpara; Deputy Commissioner for Power and Utilities Ikechuckwu Monday;
Ikechuckwu Uwanna responded on behalf of the newly appointed Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, assuring the Governor that they would do a good job and earn the trust he had placed in them.
After being approved by the State House of Assembly, sixteen of the nineteen Commissioners took the oath of office. The remaining three would be inaugurated at a later time.
