NFF President Visit Late Stephen Keshi’s Family

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick on Thursday, June 9 visited the family house of late Super Eagles great, Stephen Keshi.

Keshi died on Wednesday, June 8 in his family house in Edo State from reported cardiac arrest.

Tributes have been pouring in for the former Super Eagles coach who won the African Cup of Nations twice for Nigeria-one as a player and the other as a coach.

Pinnick on Thursday led a delegation that include chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Mr. Tony Okowa, chairmen of the Football Associations of Edo and Bayelsa States, Frank Ilaboya and Porbeni Ogun respectively, and renowned marketing consultant Mike Itemuagbor.

Also with the delegation include General Manager of NPFL club Warri Wolves, Moses Etu, former Super Eagles captain Austin Eguavoen and a number of ex –international players.

The delegation was received by late Keshi’s brother-in-law, Ricky Aburimen and cousin, Ebuka Ofonye.

Pinnick delivered a condolence letter to the family, and revealed that the NFF will ensure that the late coach is immortalized.

African football legend Didier Drogba has also joined in the mourning of Keshi who died at the age of 54.

The former Chelsea star wrote his tribute in Instagram along with the photo of the former Anderlecht defender.

“Another painful news, was shocked when I saw that another Legend died. I’ve met him in 2013 when we played against Nigeria and I understood why he was gonna take his time to success that year after beating us in quater final,” Drogba wrote.

“The Man had this special thing, this aura that makes people follow you trust you and let them guide you…he was a Leader. True inspiration for African football, We miss you Captain Keshi!!! My condolences to his family, and to my Nigerian people. #SuperEagles #stephenkeshi.”
