News reports have revealed that despite Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey’s separation in 2014, the ex-couple are still very married, if only in the eyes of the law.
Even though the 35-year-old actor and the singer, 46, filed for divorce barely four months after their separation, TMZ reports that Cannon has refused to sign the papers officially divorcing Mariah.
It goes without saying that Mariah would be unable to marry her billionaire fiancé, James Packer, as she is still legally married to Cannon.
Sources related to the former couple have reportedly disclosed to TMZ that Mariah has been trying her best to get Nick to sign off for almost a year now, but he has repeatedly refused and he isn’t saying why.
In December of 2014, TMZ had reported that the ex couple struck a property settlement agreement as well as agreeing to joint custody of their two kids.
Although all the pending issues that could possibly be standing as an hindrance to the divorce have been settled, Cannon has still refused to sign the divorce papers.
TMZ also reports that even though Cannon had wanted to leave the marriage, he still loves Mariah very much and may not want to officially let go never mind the fact that he doesn’t want Mariah marrying Parker even though he earlier proclaimed support for her new relationship, by congratulating her on the engagement.
Mariah is reportedly frustrated as she wants of the marriage officially and she wants it as soon as is humanly possible.
