The Middle Belt Youth Leaders Forum (MBYLF) has called on Niger Delta militants to stop bombing crude oil pipelines and embrace peace.
The group warned that if the bombing of pipelines does not stop, the Federal Government will deploy the military to the region.
According to Punch, the Secretary-General of the group, Kuanum Terrence, praised President Buhari for meeting with elders from the Niger Delta region.
He also said “The Middle Belt Youth Leaders Forum has followed with satisfaction the meeting of President Muhammadu Buhari with leaders and other stakeholders in the Niger Delta to discuss how to end the militancy and sabotage of oil infrastructure in their region.
“We see the development as a confirmation of Buhari’s declaration that he is the President of all Nigeria. It is a testament to his credentials as a democrat with firm belief in the power of dialogue.
“We totally support the call for the leaders of the Niger Delta to take the initiative more than anyone else to bring peace to their region, especially now that it is glaring that they are the ones influencing the militant groups.”
Also, President Muhammadu Buhari has said that his administration will review the situation in the Niger Delta, so as to end militancy and vandalism of oil infrastructure in the area.
