Two years after the brutal killing of Lambata village head, Mohammed Abdulsafur, police in Niger State have apprehended another suspect, Dauda Umar Sarki, in connection with the crime.
Sarki was arrested by officers attached to the Gawu Babangida division in Gurara Local Government Area, following an order from Justice A’isha Wodu Bawa of High Court 3, Suleja.
He will be remanded in a correctional facility alongside other suspects.

The murder, which occurred on January 14, 2023, saw a group of irate youths storm Abdulsafur’s residence, attacking him and his younger brother, Ibrahim Mohammed.
While Mohammed sustained severe injuries, Abdulsafur succumbed to the assault.
The suspects are facing charges under Sections 221, 113, 114, and 336 of the Penal Code.
Justice Bawa cautioned counsel against unnecessary delays in the proceedings and adjourned the case to March 6–7 and April 27–29, 2025, for a definite hearing.
