Former senator for Kaduna Central Shehu Sani has criticized Nigeria’s move to shut off electricity to the Republic of Niger after the military coup that toppled President Bazoum.
In a tweet, Sani explained how the country of Niger was being negatively impacted by a lack of electricity in hospitals, schools, residences, and workplaces.
The military junta will not be pressured, but the people of that country will be punished, leading to increased animosity toward the United States.
Actions by Nigeria and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) have increased support for Niger’s military government. The French, ECOWAS, and Nigerian governments are all putting pressure on them to become self-sufficient.
