The Apapa Area 1 Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) said it generated N23.3 billion revenue in October 2015.
It said that the amount was the same as it collected in September.
This is contained in the revenue report of the command made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Emmanuel Ekpa.
The report showed that N12. 2 billion was generated through the Federation Account comprising import duty, Common External Tariffs (CET) and other fees.
The document also showed that N11.1 billion came from Non-Federation Account – Value Added Tax (VAT), seven per cent Port levy, and levy from the ECOWAS Trade Liberalisation Scheme (ETLS).
According to the report, other sources of revenue into the Non-Federation Account include 1 per cent Comprehensive Import Supervision Scheme (CISS), National Automotive Council (NAC), levies on rice, iron, sugar and wheat grain.
The report also showed that the command collected N1 million from the Negotiable Duty Credit Certificate (NDCC).
NAN reports that the NDCC is a document accepted for duty payment by importers who bring in raw materials for production purposes. (NAN)
