The Ondo State chapter of Buhari Campaign Organisation, has begun its campaign for the emergence of Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) as the sole candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the 2015 presidential election.
The group says it is committed to the realisation of Buhari’s presidential ambition and his bid to ensure change in Nigeria’s political future for the betterment of Nigerians.
State Coordinator, Mr. Ifeoluwa Oyedele, who was speaking with journalists in Akure, noted that there was a need for all progressive minds to work together to save the country from what he described as “misrule of the ruling party at the national level”.
He said, “Nigerians within a certain age bracket readily agree that the Nigeria we see today is not the country of our dream. It is tragic that a country birthed with great human and natural potentials has today been plunged into the abyss of hopelessness. The situation today is even grimmer”.
Mr. Oyedele decried the life expectancy for every Nigerian, which is below 48 years, if such person was lucky to escape the alarming child mortality rate; he also lamented the high level of insecurity in the country, the poor and falling standard of education, unemployment, erratic power supply and the moribund infrastructures littered everywhere due to bad leadership in the country.
“Above all, it is the considered opinion of millions that he only possesses the mass appeal with the electorates to defeat the candidate of the PDP in a free and fair election”, he said.
The state coordinator, therefore, called on party members and stakeholders to utilize their wealth of experience to ensure the success of Buhari at the presidential poll.
“For us in Ondo State, APC through its performance at the next Presidential election must send a strong signal that we are the choice of the people to take over from an inept and rudderless government that has been foisted on the state and nation at large for the past 15 years”, Oyedele added.
