The Nigerian Government represented by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke and the British Government represented by its Minister of Justice, Jeremy Wright have signed a prisoners transfer agreement in a ceremony in Abuja.
Speaking during the occasion, Jeremy Wright noted that the agreement is paramount for Nigeria and the UK. “It will create the opportunity for us to strengthen our partnership and ensure that prisoners from both countries serve their sentences in their home nations to provide for better rehabilitation services, he stated.”
On the same issue, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Viola Onwuliri, while receiving the British Minister of Justice in her office earlier averred that experts from both countries will henceforth deliberate together on the modalities for implementation of the plan and thereon, ratify and bring the programme into force.
