Aminu TambuwalThe Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the arrangements it made for the conduct of the presidential and national assembly elections.

He made the commendation while addressing journalists shortly after casting his vote at Kofar Ajiya polling unit in Tambuwal.

“I commended INEC for making excellent arrangements for the conduct of Saturday’s presidential and national assembly elections.

“Nigerians should accept the results in good faith and be peaceful and orderly”, he said.

He advised the media to report only the official results of the elections released by INEC.

Also, speaking with journalists after casting his vote at Gidan Ja”oje polling unit in Wamakko, Governor Aliyu Wamakko said he was satisfied with the orderly and peaceful conduct of the polls.

He urged stakeholders to accept the results of the polls in good faith.

“Elections should not be a do or die affair. God gives and takes leadership.

“We should accept the results in good faith and sincerely; Nigeria should be above all our selfish interests.

“It is only when we do this that Nigeria can be on the path of growth and development”, he said.

The governor expressed happiness with the “impressive” turn out of voters, especially women in the elections.

Attahiru Bafarawa the former governor of Sokoto, also commended the conduct of the elections after casting his vote in Bafarawa town, Isa Local Government Area.

“INEC deserves commendation for doing a good job”, he said.

Usman Danmadamin-Isa, the acting chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Sokoto state, described the polls as “credible and excellent”.

On his part, Abdallah Wali, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate in Sokoto, expressed hope that INEC would resolve the challenges faced with the card readers.

“The failure of the card reader to capture voters thumb print quickly in some polling stations delayed the accreditation process.

“We hope INEC will rectify this before the April 11 elections”, he said.

Mr. Wali commended the electorate for their maturity and orderliness at the polls and urged them to accept the outcome of the results in good faith.
