In a solemn ceremony at the command headquarters in Asaba, the Nigerian Police presented cheques totaling over N110 million to the families of 33 deceased officers.
The cheques, issued on behalf of Inspector General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun, are part of the IGP Family Welfare and Group Life Assurance Schemes, customary offerings to the next of kin of fallen officers.
Commissioner of Police Wale Abass, presiding over the emotional event, expressed profound gratitude for the IGP’s benevolence.

He emphasized that the financial support would greatly assist the families and serve as a lasting tribute to the sacrifices made by their loved ones.
Abass stated, “We acknowledge the deep concern of the IGP, especially for the well-being of the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force.
The Police Force remains unwavering in its commitment to the welfare of its personnel, particularly for the families of deceased officers who laid down their lives in the pursuit of peace and progress.”
The police boss urged beneficiaries to prudently utilize the funds provided.
Isioma Francisca Ogabu, representing the next of kin of late Inspector Ogabu Ndidi and speaking on behalf of others, expressed gratitude to the IGP for the compassionate gesture and pledged responsible use of the financial support.
As the Nigerian Police honors its fallen heroes, the event stands as a poignant reminder of the dedication and sacrifices made by officers in safeguarding the nation.
