The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has urged the public to report any misconduct by its officers to appropriate authorities, including the Heads of Complaint Response Units (CRU) in their states or the state Commissioners of Police.
This call was made in a statement issued on Saturday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, titled “Public Notice: Misuse of Name, Office of the Inspector-General of Police.”
The statement highlighted concerns over unprofessional conduct by some officers and warned against fraudulent activities involving the misuse of the name and office of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

“The Nigeria Police Force is concerned about the persistent unprofessional conduct of a few police officers, which undermines the standards and reputation of the Nigeria Police Force,” the statement read.
“Despite repeated warnings and disciplinary actions, some officers continue to engage in acts that erode public trust.
Even more alarming is the fraudulent use of the name and office of the Inspector-General of Police to intimidate and exploit victims, deterring them from reporting these incidents to higher authorities.”
The NPF cautioned members of the public to exercise vigilance when approached by officers or individuals claiming connections with the IGP or senior officers for personal gain.
To enhance accountability, the Force provided specific contact numbers for reporting misconduct:
- DCP Akin Fakorede (Head, IGP Monitoring Unit, Abuja) – 08184077076
- ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi (Force PRO, Abuja) – 08037168147
- CSP Taiwo Oyewale (Head, IGP Special Investigation Unit, Abuja) – 08069318238
- SP Sherriff Lawal (ADC to the IGP) – 08094712605
The statement emphasized the NPF’s commitment to upholding integrity and professionalism while calling for public cooperation to report suspicious activities.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to fostering justice and fairness.
We call on the public to assist in ensuring accountability by reporting any misconduct or fraudulent activities,” it added.
