KEBBI (Office of the Vice President Report) – Nigeria’s Vice President, Mohammed Namadi Sambo has commended the efforts of the PDP government across the federation for their credible performance. He was speaking lately at the reconciliation meeting of the fallout of the PDP Kebbi State Gubernatorial primaries in Birnin Kebbi.
The Vice President noted the giant strides of the Kebbi State Governor, Saidu Usman Dakingari in infrastructural development, specifically mentioning the construction of quality roads and bridges, the rise in school enrollment and his provision of excellent medical facilities as laudable.
While appreciating the Sir Ahmadu Bello – Sardauna of Sokoto International Airport in Birnin Kebbi, he expressed delight that such facilities could only be found in PDP controlled States like Bauchi, Jigawa, Akwa Ibom, Gombe, Katsina and Taraba.
He commended the State for being the leading rice producer in Nigeria and eulogized the farmers for their high yield, stressing that the yield would be further increased with the launch of the Great Green Wall Programme by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in Kebbi State to combat desertification. He further said that the Federal Government has approved the establishment of a big rice mill in the State, in order to effectively harness the high yield.
Namadi Sambo intensified that in view of the rise in school enrollment in the State; the government has established a university to cater for the educational needs of the people. He enjoined the people to shun all divisive campaigns that tend to polarize the people along ethnic, religious or sectional lines. Adding, Nigerians should remain one indivisible entity and political rhetoric should not be the bane. He called for total unity of the party and support for the candidature of Bello Sarkin Yaki (General) to enable the party triumph at the forthcoming general elections.
He hinted that all the gubernatorial aspirants have agreed to team up and work assiduously towards the success of the party.
Other speakers at the occasion include: the Governor of Kebbi State, Saidu Usman Dakingari, who reiterated his commitment to the success of the party at all levels and Bello Halliru Mohammed, who denounced the sentiments being employed by the opposition to canvass for votes. Bello Sarkin Yaki, the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP promised to run an all inclusive government if elected as governor.
He recalled that he has been having a running battle with eleven other aspirants, including Mansur Shehu, Isa Dan Hanne, Mohammed Gulma, Saidu Sambawa, Zubairu Turaki, Ibrahim K Aliyu, Mohammed Magoro, Umar Abubakar Tafida, Sani Umar Kalgo, Zagi and Abubakar Mallam as well as the the incumbent Deputy Governor.
