National Planning Commission’s report.
The Minister/Deputy Chairman, National Planning Commission, Dr. Abubakar Sulaiman has said that the National Integrated Infrastructure Master Plan (NIIMP), apart from serving as a robust framework for Infrastructure Development, would also provide job opportunities, serve as investors guide and enhance economic growth.
The Minister made the remark in Abuja on Thursday, January 15, 2014 at the inauguration of the Inter-Ministerial committee (IMC) on the Presidential Launch of the National Integrated Infrastructure Master Plan.
According to the Minister, the NIIMP which is aimed at bridging the current infrastructure gap in the country, will through targeted investment, cut across the geo political zones in the country, provide infrastructure requirements of various sectors of the economy.
He noted that the National Planning Commission has put the Infrastructure Delivery Coordinating Unit (ICDU) in place, to serve as interface between the Commission and Stakeholders in the implementation of the plan. They are to work with other structures that may be put in place for seamless implementation of the NIIMP.
The IMC among various duties is to provide overall leadership and direction for the successful launching of the NIIMP by the President Goodluck Jonathan; review work plan for the Presidential launch and supervise its implementation; mobilize support towards executing major activities leading to the Presidential Launch; and prescribe actions for the Secretariat that would facilitate the organization of the Presidential launch of the NIIMP.
