The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Political Commission has launched scathing criticism against Labour Party (LP) National Chairman, Julius Abure, labeling him a “drowning wannabe politrickster.”
In a statement signed by Comrade Titus Amba, Chairperson, NLC Political Commission, and Comrade Chris Uyot, Secretary, NLC Political Commission, the NLC accused Abure of losing the confidence of most critical stakeholders in the party.
The NLC reiterated its stance that the Labour Party belongs to the NLC, emphasizing that Abure violated a court order regarding the ownership of the party.
The statement highlighted the NLC’s duty to keep workers and Nigerians focused on Abure’s violations, including convening a National Convention without sole proprietorship over the party, as demanded in their previous press release.
Referring to a 20th March 2018 judgment by Justice Gabriel Kolawole, the NLC emphasized that the Labour Party is owned by the Nigeria Labour Congress, and an all-inclusive National Convention should be held to address the wrongs perpetuated by individuals like Abure.
The NLC criticized Abure for demonstrating a lack of respect for court judgments, agreements, and contempt for elders in the labour movement.
The statement condemned Abure’s actions as that of a “drowning wannabe ‘politrickster'” who has lost the confidence of most critical stakeholders in the Labour Party.
The NLC concluded by affirming Nigerian workers’ resolve to fully recover and reposition the Labour Party as a political vehicle for sincere and patriotic politicians committed to making a genuine impact in the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
