The Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation has requested for the support of the National Information Technology Development Agency on ways the digital technology, research, and innovation can be used to positively affect the petroleum sector.

According to the Director General of NITDA, Mallam Kashifu Abdullahi; the Research, Technology and Innovation team of the NNPC led by, Mrs Ugonna Betty Amaechi, paid him a visit at the National Centre fot Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.
Recall that the Research, Technology and Innovation division was created earlier this year to deal with research technology and innovation in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.
During their visit to NITDA boss, Mrs Amaechi stated that NNPC is in need of NITDA’s support to review its operational strategy, and make allowance for the use of digital technology to achieve its objectives.
Mrs Amaechi noted that the Research, Technology and Innovation team focus point are downstream innovation, refining of petrochemical innovation, cybernetics and automation, energy innovation, upstream innovation, and market research and service innovation.
In her words she stated the RTI team looks forward to learn from NITDA. The Director General of NITDA, however assured the NNPC’ Research, Technology and Innovation team of NITDA’ support to make the initiative a reality.
