The National Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Ajuji Ahmed, has criticised former members of the party who defected to other political platforms, warning that they would face challenges in their new political homes.
Ahmed made the remarks on Thursday during the party’s 10th National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting held in Abuja.
Describing the defectors as “renegades,” the NNPP chairman said that although the party may not be large in size, it remains stronger and more united than many other political parties.

He urged current members to ignore those who left the party, insisting that their decision would only bring them hardship.
According to him, leaving what he described as a peaceful party for troubled ones was a wrong choice.
Ahmed also took a swipe at the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, stating that the NNPP has remained stable despite attempts by external forces to destabilise it.
He maintained that the NNPP has no internal divisions and is not controlled by any individual or external influence.
“We are not fragmented into three parts with two party chairmen. We have not been captured, broken or made ineffective by a single omnipotent external force. We are NNPP. We are united,” he said.
Calling on party members to disregard the activities of defectors, Ahmed added: “I call upon you to please forget entirely the antics of renegades who call themselves defectors. May their road continue to be rough.”
He stressed that the party remains united, focused and committed to its ideals and guiding principles.
