The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has removed Rabiu Kwankwaso, its 2023 presidential candidate, after he refused to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee.
The National Executive Committee of the NNPP has announced that Kwankwaso’s dismissal is effective immediately.
This was announced in a press release issued on Tuesday in Lagos by Abdulsalam Abdulrasaq, the NNPP’s acting National Publicity Secretary.
For his extreme anti-party activities and poor handling of campaign funds, Kwankwaso was suspended by the NNPP at its National Convention on August 29 in Lagos.
The National Executive Council convened a disciplinary committee after Kwankwaso’s suspension, inviting him to attend and defend himself under penalty of expulsion.

Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has been dismissed from the NNPP with immediate effect after he ignored a written invitation to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee on Thursday, August 31.
Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a former presidential contender, will be brought before the proper authorities to face questions about alleged abuse of public funds.
NNPP’s leadership loyal to Kwankwaso reportedly announced the suspension of the party’s founder, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, and the National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Agbo Major, on August 24, triggering a crisis, as reported by Infostride News.
