Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has declared that there are no longer “vagabonds” in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying those responsible for past internal crises have been expelled from the party.
Makinde made the assertion on Tuesday during the inauguration of the Oyo State PDP Secretariat in Ibadan.
According to the governor, individuals he described as “vagabonds” rose within the party following the PDP’s loss of power at the federal level in 2015 and exploited a leadership vacuum for about a decade.

“The vagabonds in the PDP grew up in 2015. They had 10 years to do whatever they wanted to do,” Makinde said.
He disclosed that the party took decisive action against them in November 2025.
“They were expelled from the PDP in November 2025. So, no more vagabonds in PDP,” he stated.
Makinde, a two-term governor, attributed the PDP’s loss of power at the federal level in 2015 to leadership gaps within the party at the time.
“There was a gap in the leadership; otherwise, those vagabonds would never have been able to take hold of the PDP,” he added.
The remarks are widely believed to be directed at the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, who is currently leading a rival faction within the PDP.
