A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has convicted and sentenced one Eze Kingsley to death by hanging for the murder of Wagbara David.
Kingsley was found guilty of committing the crime on December 7, 2018, at No. 4, Rumumasi Community along the East-West Road, Port Harcourt.
The convict, who was on trial for three counts of murder and infliction of grievous bodily harm, was reported to have stabbed David with a sharp object, leading to his death.
A doctor at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) later confirmed David’s demise.
Reports indicate that an argument broke out between Kingsley, a petroleum tanker conductor, and David, a mortuary operator, after David instructed the tanker driver to move the vehicle away from his business premises, citing obstruction.
Delivering judgment, Justice Boma Diepiri ruled that the prosecution had proven every element of the murder charge beyond a reasonable doubt.
He subsequently convicted Kingsley and sentenced him to death by hanging.
Justice Diepiri ordered that Kingsley be hanged by the neck until he is dead and prayed for his soul to rest in peace.
