The Enugu state police command has called on victims who were allegedly assaulted at Flavour’s concert to come out to testify.
Ebere Amaraizu released a statement explaining that the force had not received any reports of rape and would appreciate if the victims would come forward and testify.
“The newspaper report (of the mass rape), which is based on a Twitter message in the social media, is unfounded and we cannot operate on speculations as a law enforcement agency. Till now, nobody has come forward to report any case of sexual assault or molestation and rape to the Command.
However, our doors in the Command, divisional headquarters, and stations over the state are open to anybody or group to make a report and we will take it up from there by doing further investigation. There is no reported case of rape (from the musical concert) anywhere in the Enugu State Police Command. We don’t have any incident arising from that event. Whoever that has any should come forward, and we will look at it,” the statement read.
It would be recalled that after Flavour’s ‘Flavour of Africa’ concert held in Enugu finished, a Twitter user, @Naturize9 alleged that women were assaulted, molested and raped during the show, and the police at that time said they had started an investigation into the matter.
