Manchester United legend Gary Neville has said that Matheus Cunha’s goal against Nottingham Forest shouldn’t have stood. He was recently scathing in his assessment of the VAR decision and the eventual outcome at Old Trafford, and fans have been reacting.
Branding the call a ridiculous shocker, Neville stated that checking the replay for 4 minutes led to the match official overthinking the decision.
Gary added that Mbeumo‘s handball was clearly an intentional infringement that warranted chalking off the goal.
His words, “I think that is an absolute shocker in every single way. It’s ridiculous. The VAR have been quite clear, they said it has been disallowed, he has handballed it and brought the ball back into play. I can’t believe what I have just seen to be honest. VAR looked at it for three minutes and then the referee looks at it for another minute. They are overthinking it. They have got themselves into a real mess there.”
