National Planning Commission and Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) have embarked on verification visits to projects currently being implemented by various SURE-P Project Implementation Units (PIUs) across the six geo – political zones.
The SURE-P Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Unit is domiciled in the NPC, being the Government’s national coordinating agency responsible for the overall national development.
The Federal Government created a national M & E department in NPC in order to institutionalize an effective M & E system in all the MDAs with a view to ensuring efficient and result based service delivery for Nigerians
The SURE-P programme was created by the Federal Government to cushion the effect of the partial oil subsidy withdrawal, and the monitoring visit is aimed at ascertaining the level of success of the Government in improving the lives of the citizens through the programme.
Some of the projects inspected by one of the monitoring groups covering the North Central zone include; desertification and flood control, reinstatement of shoulders/wash out, pavement expansion and surface dressing, constructions of culvers/drainages and caves along FCT-Nyaya-Keffi road.
Others are renovation and upgrading of Maternal Care Health (MCH) in KpuKpawu, Akwanga and Agraga, Kohov, Kwande in Nassarawa and Benue States respectively.
