The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Bauchi State Command, has arrested two suspects for alleged vandalism of railway infrastructure in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Saminu Yusuf, on Monday.
According to the statement, the suspects were apprehended on July 29, 2025, by NSCDC operatives who intercepted a white Peugeot J5 vehicle with registration number KTG 40 XF.
The vehicle was reportedly loaded with 80 pieces of vandalised railway sleepers and four bags of charcoal.

The statement said the arrest was made during routine patrol operations aimed at curbing the destruction of critical national infrastructure.
The Bauchi State Commandant of NSCDC, Oloyede Oyerinde, commended the operatives for their swift action and reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to safeguarding public assets across the state.
“We will not relent in our efforts to protect government property and ensure that those involved in acts of sabotage are brought to justice,” Oyerinde said.
He further appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements or criminal activities to the nearest security agency. He also warned individuals involved in acts of vandalism to desist or risk facing the full consequences of the law.
The suspects are currently in custody and investigations are ongoing.
