The Edo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the deployment of over 2,000 personnel across the state for the Eid al-Fitr celebration.
The deployment is aimed at ensuring adequate security before, during and after the festive period.
This was contained in a statement issued by the State Commandant, Akintayo Saidi Ayinla, and made available to journalists on Tuesday through the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ogbebor Efosa.

Ayinla said the deployment formed part of proactive measures to guarantee a peaceful and hitch-free celebration for residents, particularly Muslim faithful observing the festival.
He disclosed that the personnel were drawn from various specialised units of the Corps, including the Armed Squad, Female Special Squad, Counter Terrorism Unit, Disaster Management Unit and the Commandant’s Monitoring Team.
According to him, the operatives have been strategically deployed across the three senatorial districts of the state.
He added that critical public locations such as markets, recreational centres, prayer grounds, highways and other vulnerable areas would be adequately secured to prevent criminal activities and ensure the safety of lives and property.
The commandant further emphasised that the Corps would work in close collaboration with other security agencies in the state to ensure comprehensive security coverage, rapid response to emergencies and uninterrupted public safety throughout the celebration.
He noted that all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers had been directed to intensify patrols, strengthen intelligence gathering and implement proactive security measures within their respective jurisdictions.
While felicitating Muslim faithful in the state, Ayinla congratulated them on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and urged them to celebrate peacefully in accordance with the law.
He also warned individuals with criminal intentions to steer clear of the state, stressing that the Corps was fully prepared to deal decisively with any threat to peace and security.
The NSCDC Edo State Command reaffirmed its commitment to the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, as well as the safety of residents.
