The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Olusola Odumosu, has charged officers and men of the Command to intensify their efforts in gathering intelligence to address the prevailing security challenges in the territory.
CSC Idoko Samuel, the FCT Command’s Public Relations Officer, stated in a Wednesday release that the Commandant delivered this directive during a briefing with personnel at the Command’s headquarters in Wuse, Zone 5, Abuja.
In his address, the Commandant emphasized the need to recognize that criminals are not ghosts but members of various communities.

He stressed the importance of activating the Command’s intelligence architecture to identify and apprehend these individuals.
The Commandant expressed concern about the increasing presence of bandits, particularly in communities situated in the hinterlands and on the fringes of the FCT. He highlighted the challenges posed by porous borders shared with neighboring states like Niger, Kaduna, and Nasarawa, which contribute to the escalation of criminal activities.
To combat these challenges effectively, he called for enhanced collaboration and cooperation between his personnel and the public, emphasizing the importance of sharing relevant information for a successful security operation.
Addressing the issue of kidnapping, which has become prevalent in the FCT, the Commandant underscored the crucial role of information in combating this crime.
He emphasized that without actionable intelligence, security agencies would face limitations in their efforts.
The Commandant expressed gratitude to the Minister of the FCT, Barr Nyesom Wike, for his support to the security agencies in the Federal Capital Territory.
He assured the Minister and residents of the FCT that the security situation would be addressed comprehensively and in a timely manner.
