NSCDC inaugurates surveillance team to protect critical infrastructure in Delta

The Delta State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has inaugurated a Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, CNAI, Monitoring and Surveillance Team to strengthen the protection of Federal Government infrastructure across the state.

The State Commandant of the NSCDC, Commandant Chinedu Igbo Fabian, disclosed this while briefing journalists during the inauguration ceremony, describing the initiative as a decisive step towards safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure in Delta State.

Fabian said the newly inaugurated team would focus on combating the rising cases of vandalism targeting Base Transceiver Stations, BTS, and other critical infrastructure across the state.

He noted that the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure remains one of the core statutory responsibilities of the NSCDC, stressing the need for officers to remain vigilant in carrying out their duties.

“The NSCDC must remain proactive in preventing acts of vandalism and sabotage,” Fabian said.

“The responsibility of safeguarding our nation’s critical infrastructure is one we cannot afford to fail. I expect every member of this team to discharge their duties with commitment, professionalism, and integrity.”

The commandant also highlighted recent security operations carried out by the command, including a coordinated search of bushes and forests in the Ibusa area to prevent the locations from being used as hideouts by kidnappers or as places to keep abducted victims.

According to him, the operation also involved the profiling and interviewing of forest settlers to establish their identities as part of efforts to enhance security and intelligence gathering across the state.
