Following their sterling performances at the just concluded National Youth Games held in Abuja, nine athletes who are members of team Ogun have been invited to the junior national camp.
They are Abel Shedrack (Squash), Oyebanji Mustapha, Anekwe Micheal and David Iwowari (Basketball), Oluwafolakemi Olude (walking race),
Others are Ubi Patrick (100metres), Grace Oladejo (Shotput), Aminat Ilori(Badminton) and Sarah Ogunola (1500metres).
Shedrack, who got a gold medal for squash was also awarded a return ticket by the Chairman of the Squash Federation of Nigeria, Alhaji Adamu Erena to attend a 30-day training at the Squash Academy in Egypt to further nurture the young talent to stardom.
At the end of the 10-day competition, Ogun won a total of five gold, three silver and six bronze medals.
Addressing members of the State contingent afterwards, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mrs. Moyo Olowonmi said with nine of its athletes invited to national camp, Ogun had justified gesture behind competition, which is to discover new talents.
She commended them for their doggedness, determination and resilience, assuring that government would continue put their welfare on the front burner.
