The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) has announced the names of 13 political parties cleared to participate in the upcoming local government elections scheduled for January 18, 2025.
The list was released on Friday in Akure, the state capital, by Tunde Adeleye, ODIEC’s Commissioner in charge of Communication, Media, and Information Technology.
Adeleye disclosed that the screening exercise, conducted at the ODIEC Headquarters on December 27, 2024, cleared 13 political parties to contest for the chairmanship positions across the 18 local government areas and councillorship positions in the 203 wards of the state.

According to the Media Officer of the Commission, Bisi Lawani, the final list was officially released on January 1, 2025. The political parties cleared to participate include:
- Action Democratic Party (ADP)
- Action People’s Party (APP)
- All Progressives Congress (APC)
- All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)
- Boot Party (BP)
- Labour Party (LP)
- New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP)
- Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
- Social Democratic Party (SDP)
- Young Progressive Party (YPP)
- Zenith Labour Party (ZLP)
- Action Alliance (AA)
- National Rescue Movement (NRM)
The Commission also noted that political campaigns, which began on December 26, 2024, will end on January 16, 2025, in accordance with the electoral guidelines.
ODIEC emphasized its commitment to conducting a transparent and credible election and urged all political parties and candidates to adhere to the rules governing the electoral process.
