Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr has insisted that striker Odion Ighalo, who now plays in China is still in his plans.
Ighalo has sealed a move to Chinese side Changchun Yatai from Premier League club, Watford.
After the move, the striker revealed that he has not received a call from his National team boss, prompting fears that he might be dropped.
Rohr has however assured the striker of a place in his Super Eagles and said he understood why the striker moved to China.
“He wasn’t getting games at Watford, in China he will play and be match fit aside the chance to earn more for himself and his family,” Rohr told newsmen in Gabon where he was covering the just concluded the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
“We understand his dilemma, so he is very much in our plans.”
Ighalo lost his first-team place at Watford following a loss of form which saw him score just one Premier League goal this season.
Speaking of his last days at Watford, the 27-year-old revealed that he was frustrated with his bench role under new boss Walter Mazzari who was appointed following the sacking of Enrique Sánchez Flores in the summer of 2016.
The striker also revealed that he preferred to stay in England or Europe but clubs did not meet Watford’s valuation of the striker.
