The Lagos Forum of Ogere Indigenes has emphasized that the growth and development of Ogere Remo can only be achieved through collective efforts.
The forum made the call during a programme titled “An Evening with the Ologere of Ogere, Oba James Obafemi Saliu,” held on Saturday at the Ikeja Business Club, Lagos. The event was organized in collaboration with the Ologere-in-Council.
Speaking at the gathering, Oba Saliu underscored the importance of individual participation in the town’s progress.

“I believe 95%, if not 100%, of us here today are indigenes of Ogere Remo, so we need to tell ourselves the truth about the crucial role that individual participation plays in the development of our town,” the monarch stated.
He stressed that the responsibility of building a thriving community does not rest solely on the government or traditional leaders but also on the people.
“We all want to live in a place that is safe, clean, and prosperous. However, we must understand that development is not just the responsibility of our leaders or the government; it is also our responsibility as individuals.
“Every single one of us has a role to play in shaping the future of our community. Whether it’s through volunteering, participating in local initiatives, investing in the town, or simply being an active and engaged citizen, we can all make a difference,” he added.
Also speaking, Chairman of Scib Nigeria and Co. Limited, Olabode Ogunlana, a prominent indigene of Ogere Remo, urged all descendants of the town to actively contribute to its growth.
“We must bring Ogere back to the great status it once had. We cannot achieve this by simply standing by and hoping others will do it for us. Every contribution matters,” Ogunlana stated.
He called on Ogere indigenes, regardless of their place of residence, to always remember their roots.
“Talk to all Ogere indigenes wherever they may be. Some call themselves citizens of the world, but they would not have been anything if they had not been born in Ogere. They must remember where they come from and contribute to its progress,” he said.

Similarly, President of the Ogere Community Development Association, Temitayo Ladejobi, emphasized the need for collective efforts to fast-track development.
“Our goal is to put the affairs of our commonwealth in perspective and work together with a strong will to drive progress. We must stand shoulder to shoulder to build a better community,” Ladejobi said.
The event’s coordinator, Abayomi Kehinde, expressed gratitude for the impressive turnout and called for sustained commitment toward Ogere’s growth.
“I want to thank every indigene of Ogere who attended this occasion, as well as those who could not make it. The feedback I have received gives me the impression that there will be more energy and commitment towards the development of our town. I am confident that we are on the right path,” he stated.
