Ogun State House of Assembly has assured that it will ensure prompt passage of the 2014 Budget before it. Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Akanbi Bankole gave the assurance shortly after rounding off the budget estimate defence sessions by Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The lawmaker commended the respective Heads of the MDAs for their prompt attendance at the exercise, clarifying that only a few of them would have their budgets adjusted.
Earlier in his defence of the Assembly’s budget estimates before the Committee, the Clerk, Mr. Muyiwa Adenopo said the sum of N4.4b was proposed as the total budget for 2014, out of which N2.2b was earmarked for capital expenditure, while the remaining N2.2b would go for recurrent matters.
A further breakdown of the budget revealed that personnel cost would gulp N772m, while N1.4b was set aside for overhead costs.
On capital projects, Adenopo said N150m would be spent on construction and provision of office buildings, another N75m for the construction, provisions and repairs of residential buildings, just as N52m was meant for rehabilitation of office buildings.
The sum of N1.4b was earmarked for the implementation of constituency projects across the State, while special projects and assignments would gulp N175m.
