In response to the prevailing economic challenges in Nigeria, the Ogun State Government has announced plans to inject N5 billion into various sectors of the state’s economy.
The announcement was made by Governor Dapo Abiodun during a press conference held in Oke Mosan area of Abeokuta, the state capital, on Wednesday.
Governor Abiodun expressed solidarity with the people of Ogun State amidst the current economic hardship, particularly the impact of the removal of fuel subsidy.

He assured the citizens that the tough times were temporary and necessary for a better future.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by the people, Governor Abiodun outlined several initiatives aimed at alleviating the burdens on citizens. These include:
– Providing a minimum of five exercise books for all 850,000 students in public primary and secondary schools.
– Offering a one-time N10,000 education support grant for at least 100,000 pupils in public primary and secondary schools.
– Granting an education grant of N50,000 each to all 27,600 indigent students in tertiary institutions nationwide.
– Providing insurance health cover for over 70,000 beneficiaries, including pregnant women, children, the elderly, market women, and other members of the informal sector.
– Offering free pre-natal care, an additional N5,000 per birth, and free post-natal care for pregnant women under the Ibidero Scheme.
– Distributing food palliatives, including rice and other food items, to about 300,000 households across the state.
– Initiating the payment of N500 million monthly towards offsetting the backlog of inherited deductions, alongside the continued payment of N10,000 transport allowance to all civil servants for the last 8 months.
Governor Abiodun emphasized his administration’s commitment to implementing these initiatives as part of its responsibility to the people, with the total immediate interventions amounting to approximately N5 billion across all sectors of the state economy.
