Irked by the disappointing 1-1 draw with Mali, Super Falcons Chief Coach Edwin Okon has called up two foreign based strikers to boost the team for the second and final leg qualifier for the 2015 All Africa Games.
.
Okon who revealed this in a chat with Complete Sports said he missed the scoring abilities of the duo of Asisat Oshoala and Desire Oparanozie in the game in Bamako, decided to invite the duo for the match scheduled to hold on April 12 in Nigeria.
.
“I have spoken with the two girls and they have given me their words that they would try to be available for the game against mali. In Mali, we lost so many scoring chances that the two players who are based in England and France respectively would have scored.
.
“It is not as if we cannot beat mali without the compliments of our foreign based professionals but since we are also using the qualifiers to prepare for the World Cup, there is nothing wrong in calling our best to come and play against Mali” Okon stated.
.
He said that the team has yet to regain the form that won them the Africa Women’s Championship title last year, stressing that when they do, they would be unstoppable.
.
The Rivers Angels coach said the Malians who went to France on training tour were not spectacular in that game, adding that if not for the defensive blunder; the Falcons would have run away with a lone goal win.
