Former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has criticised his successor, Hope Uzodinma, alleging that the incumbent governor has never won an election in his political career.
Okorocha made the allegation on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, shortly after the Federal High Court in Abuja declared him the authentic All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Imo West Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.

The former governor questioned Uzodinma’s electoral history, referring to the circumstances surrounding his emergence as governor in January 2020 after finishing fourth in the 2019 governorship election.
“This was the same thing that happened when one person wrote more than 300 results, causing someone who came fourth to become number one. This man has never won any election in his life,” Okorocha said.
His comments followed the judgment delivered by Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court, which ruled that Okorocha won the APC senatorial primary conducted on May 18, 2026.
The court ordered the APC to submit Okorocha’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its candidate for the Imo West senatorial seat.
The ruling effectively challenged Uzodinma’s claim to the party’s ticket for the district ahead of the January 16, 2027 National Assembly election.
Reacting to the judgment, Okorocha commended the judiciary, saying the decision had addressed the dispute surrounding the party’s senatorial primary.
He also expressed satisfaction that the court had recognised his claim to the ticket, adding that the development would bring relief to the people of Imo West.
“This is a victory for Imo State. The shackles on Imo have been broken,” he said.
The dispute adds another dimension to the political relationship between the two former allies, with the court ruling setting the stage for further developments over the APC’s representation in the Imo West senatorial contest.
