The Oluwo of Ibadanland, Chief Wahab Popoola Labosinde, decorated the two chiefs with traditional Akoko leaves during the ceremony, signifying their official elevation.
In his remarks, Oba Olakulehin emphasised the importance of upholding the rich cultural heritage of Ibadanland.
He urged the newly promoted chiefs to remain ambassadors of Ibadan’s traditional values and ensure that these values are not relegated.
“I congratulate you both on your elevation today. You have now joined the Balogun chieftaincy line.
Ibadan is known for its rich traditional values and strong cultural heritage, and it is your responsibility to uphold them,” the Olubadan said.
He further encouraged the new chiefs to remain committed to the traditions of the ancient city, reiterating his hopes for their continued loyalty to the institution.
“Ibadan’s traditions are a source of pride, and I expect both of you to maintain them and be good ambassadors of our cultural heritage. Congratulations once again,” Olubadan concluded.
