In the process of trailing the journey of an elegant woman- Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, we came to realize that she is an ex model, actress, singer and a philanthropist.
Omotola Jalade Ekeinde who is of Ondo decent, but was born in Lagos state, Nigeria; grew up in a family of five, her parents and two younger brothers. She attended Chrisland school Opebi (1981-1987), Oxford Children School (1987), Santis Layout and Command Secondary School Kaduna (1988-1993).
Omotola Jalade Ekeinde had her tertiary education at Obafemi Awolowo University and completed it at Yaba college of technology where she studied Estate Management.
However, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde ventured into modeling after school to earn a living for herself as she was waiting for her dream course. And later introduce into acting when she accompanied her friend to an audition, and then her acting career started in 1995 when she played a lead role in the movie Venom of Justice, which was directed by Reginald Ebere.
In addition, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde was launched into limelight and found a paved entrance in Nollywood film industry when she featured in the movie titled Mortal Inheritance where she played the role of a sickle cell patient and was able to live with it. The movie is regarded as one of Nigeria’s best movies ever made. And with it, she won for herself an award- ‘Best actress’ in an English speaking movie and ‘Best actress’ overall at the 1997,THEMA (The Movie Awards).
In the last years of the 90s and early 2000s, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde starred in several sequel films, including Lost Kingdom 2, Kosorogun 2, and Blood Sister 2, which led her to a grand achiever award on behalf of the Global Excellence Recognition Awards in 2004. By the mid-2000s, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde had metamorphosed into A-list status. She was awarded “Best Actress in a Supporting Role” during the African Movie Academy Awards in 2005.
Omotola Jalade Ekeinde received her first cinematic movie role in the 2010 film, Ije, after shooting roughly 300 straight to video movies. In the year 2012, she starred in the Nollywood blockbuster thriller Last Flight to Abuja which beat Hollywood blockbusters like Spiderman, Think like a Man, Ice Age, The Avengers, and Madagascar to become the 2nd highest-grossing movie in West African cinemas in 2012. Omotola has gone on to win over 40 domestic and international awards.
And, in the year 2015, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde celebrated her 20th anniversary in the entertainment industry.
