In preparation for the forthcoming November governorship election in Ondo State, leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), operating under the banner of Ondo APC Aborigines, have established a nine-member committee.
The committee, chaired by Christy Olufowose, is tasked with evaluating and screening all governorship aspirants within the party.
The decision was reached during a meeting held in Akure, the state capital, which was presided over by former Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Togo, Sola Iji.

Emphasizing the need to learn from past experiences and avoid previous mistakes, the meeting aims to ensure the emergence of a suitable candidate who can meet the expectations of the APC Aborigines.
“This is a meeting of the foundation members of APC in Ondo State. We refer to ourselves as Aborigine members of the party.
We are bringing together the leaders of the party. Some of us have been working hard for the growth of the party, and we think it is time for us to retake our party,” Ambassador Iji stated.
He further highlighted the goal of the meeting, stating, “The resources of the party should be of benefit to the members and not to strangers.
We are taking back our party to make sure we produce a government of the people and for the people.”
The committee is expected to assess the aspirants and present the top three candidates to the APC Aborigines leaders for final selection.
This move reflects the group’s determination to ensure that the chosen candidate aligns with their collective aspirations and vision for the party’s future governance in Ondo State.
