The Labour Party (LP) candidate, Ayo Olorunfemi, and his African Democratic Congress (ADC) counterpart, Myson Aderemi Nejo, have extended their congratulations to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa following his victory in the Ondo State governorship election held over the weekend.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the poll on Sunday.
In separate statements issued on Monday, both candidates described Aiyedatiwa’s victory as a true reflection of the will of the people.

Olorunfemi, in his statement, commended the governor and expressed optimism for the state’s future under his leadership.
“Please accept my warm congratulations on your victory and my best wishes for your success as you prepare to take up the responsibilities and challenges of your high office,” Olorunfemi said.
He assured Aiyedatiwa of his party’s willingness to collaborate for the development of Ondo State, adding:
“I look forward to working with you not only to develop closer relations based on our shared values but also to concert our efforts in the cause of peace, development, and the brotherhood of our people.”
Similarly, Aderemi, who emerged third in the poll, lauded the peaceful conduct of the election, noting that it adhered to the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022.
“Today, the 17th day of November, 2024, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, as the winner of the Ondo State Governorship election held on Saturday, the 16th day of November, 2024,” Aderemi stated.
“Having reviewed the conduct of the election, which was peaceful despite the imperfections and pockets of challenges characteristic of any electoral process anywhere in the world, one cannot be left in doubt, as an objective participant in the process, that the election was conducted in substantial compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022,” he added.
Governor Aiyedatiwa’s victory has been widely acknowledged as a significant milestone in consolidating democratic values in the state.
