At least one person has been confirmed dead, and four others injured following a collision between a J5 Ford bus and a Mercedes truck on the Lagos Third Mainland Bridge.
The accident, which occurred on Monday morning at Ilubirin, inward Sura, caused significant traffic disruptions along the busy route.
Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), led by General Manager Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, responded promptly to the scene and rescued victims trapped in the wreckage.

Three of the injured survived.
Offering condolences to the bereaved family, Bakare-Oki stressed the importance of road safety, especially as the festive season approaches.
“This incident is a grim reminder of the dangers posed by faulty braking systems and excessive speeding,” he said.
Bakare-Oki urged drivers, particularly operators of heavy-duty vehicles, to avoid speeding and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before embarking on any journey.
He also called on motorists to prioritize safety to prevent further tragedies on the roads.
