Members of the Osun State House of Assembly have unanimously passed a vote of confidence in Governor Ademola Adeleke, endorsing him for a second term ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election.
The motion was moved on Tuesday during plenary by Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi, representing Obokun State Constituency, and seconded by Hon. Taofiq Olayiwola of Ede South State Constituency.
The endorsement received full backing from all 26 lawmakers, including 25 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the sole All Progressives Congress (APC) member in the Assembly.

Presiding over the session, Speaker Adewale Egbedun lauded Governor Adeleke’s leadership and developmental strides in Osun State, particularly in alignment with his five-point agenda.
The Speaker, while celebrating the governor’s 65th birthday, described him as a symbol of responsive governance, noting that the legislature was proud of his achievements.
“As representatives of the people, we have witnessed first-hand the transformative policies and programmes of Governor Adeleke. His dedication to the welfare of the people and development of our dear state is commendable,” Egbedun stated.
In further support of the motion, Hon. Simeon Popoola, representing Boripe-Boluwaduro State Constituency, praised the governor’s character and performance.
“Politics aside, Mr Governor is a plain-minded personality, loving and genuine. These attributes have greatly assisted him in his performance,” Popoola said.
Following contributions from members, the Speaker put the motion to a voice vote, which was unanimously upheld by the House.
