Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has blamed politicians in Abuja for the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s defeat in the Osun State governorship election.
Sule said the party’s loss was partly caused by the failure of some APC politicians based in Abuja to properly understand the political dynamics and realities on the ground in Osun State.

The governor made the comment while reflecting on the outcome of the election and the lessons it holds for the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He suggested that some party leaders were disconnected from grassroots politics and relied excessively on information from Abuja instead of engaging directly with voters and local stakeholders.
Sule stressed the importance of strengthening the party’s grassroots structure and ensuring that political decisions are informed by the realities in individual states.
He urged APC leaders to learn from the Osun experience and avoid repeating mistakes that could affect the party’s performance in future elections.
The governor also called for greater unity among party members and improved coordination between national leaders, state chapters and grassroots supporters.
He maintained that the outcome of the Osun election should serve as a warning to political parties that incumbency alone cannot guarantee electoral victory.
Sule urged APC members to return to the grassroots, listen to voters and develop strategies that reflect the concerns and expectations of Nigerians ahead of 2027.
